Which airlines fly into Tulum (TQO) in 2026

As of July 2026, flight trackers list 10 airlines operating at TQO from about 13 airports, with roughly 242 arrivals a month. The ones showing up most often: Aeromexico, VivaAerobus, WestJet, Volaris, Delta, United, American, Air Canada, Air Transat and Mexicana.

The most common U.S. gateways are Houston, Dallas/Fort Worth, Chicago and Miami; from within Mexico, Mexico City and Santa Lucía handle most departures. For summer 2026, Mexicana added eight domestic flights, so internal connectivity improved.

Now the fact that changes the decision: airlines cut roughly 27–30% of capacity into TQO versus late 2024. The airport opened in December 2023 with a lot of announced routes, and several fell through on soft demand and competition from Cancún. Translation: some routes that existed last year are gone now. Flying into Cancún and driving down adds two hours of highway and between $455 and $2,300 MXN depending on how you do it. Flying into TQO leaves you 40 minutes out, and the transfer costs noticeably less. If your route hits both airports at similar fares, TQO wins almost every time.

When Cancún still makes sense: if the CUN fare is much cheaper (it happens, especially from Europe and higher-supply hubs), if your only viable connection routes through Cancún, or if you’re coming to stay a while and the airfare saving more than pays for the extra two hours. How to decide based on where you’re coming from

• From Houston, Dallas, Chicago or Miami: a direct flight to TQO is a real option. Compare it against the same route into CUN, and subtract two hours and ~$1,500 MXN of transfer on the Cancún side before you decide.
• From other U.S. or Canadian cities: you’ll likely connect. Check whether the connection lands you at TQO without absurd layovers; if not, Cancún’s higher frequency can be simpler.
• From Europe: most flights still land in Cancún. There the long transfer is part of the deal — worth arranging ahead so you’re not haggling with a taxi at midnight.
• From within Mexico: Santa Lucía and Mexico City fly to TQO often, and with Mexicana adding frequencies in 2026 it’s the easiest choice for a weekend.

1. Check the route for YOUR date, not in general. With the 2026 cuts, a route can show as “active” but only fly twice a week. Look at the calendar for your exact month.
